PowerSchool Update

A Message from Dr. Coffey:

Although we have yet to receive information directly from PowerSchool, through our own investigation, we now know for sure that:

  • All D101 students and most D101 staff's data was impacted by the incident (names, addresses, phone numbers, and health notes, if any existed [eg. allergy plans, etc.].

  • Former

students’ social security numbers [those who graduated from McClure in 2019 or before, ~700 students] were also part of the breach.

  • PowerSchool released this FAQ if you would like to read further.

Today (January 17, 2025), PowerSchool shared steps they will be taking for ALL impacted individuals:

  • Identity Protection and Credit Monitoring Services:

PowerSchool has engaged Experian a trusted credit reporting agency, to

offer complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services

to all students and educators whose information from your PowerSchool SIS was involved. This offer is being provided regardless of whether an individual’s Social Security number was exfiltrated.

  • Identity Protection: PowerSchool will be offering two years of complimentary identity protection services for all students and educators whose information was involved.

  • Credit Monitoring: PowerSchool will also be offering two years of complimentary credit monitoring services for all adult students and educators whose information was involved.

  • Notifications:

Starting in the next few weeks,

PowerSchool will be handling notifications directly to involved individuals and relevant state attorney general offices.

  • PowerSchool released this fact sheet with further details.

Again, just to reiterate, this was not OUR breach; nothing was accessed from within our network.

PowerSchool has reported that the scope of this incident included about 80% of American schools nationally.
